The masonry is telling you the footing has moved
Stair-step cracks through brick or block, a crack that follows the mortar joints, or a corner that has pulled away from the rest of the wall all mean the footing under that section is no longer sitting where it was built. Width matters less than pattern: masonry doesn’t crack on its own, it cracks because what it sits on has settled.
